Band, there's a concert coming up soon. It is the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) 2009 Concert Band Presentation Night. It will showcase the five local school bands who had achieved excellent results at the recent SYF 2009 Central Judging of Concert Bands in April and May.
The bands performing are from: Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Tanjong Katong Girls’ School, Xinmin Secondary School, Anderson Junior College and National Junior College.
The concert will present a repertoire of familiar classics including Verdi’s La Forza Del Destino, Strauss II’s Die Fledemaus, Puccini’s Turandot, and Gillingham’s With Heart and Voice.
There will also be a combined band presenting the SYF 2009 set pieces, Two Overtures for Wind Band, composed by Dr Kelly Tang.

ITE Concert Band was formed in the year of 2005, comprising of students with diverse musical backgrounds from the 3 ITE Colleges.
Mr Eric James Watson was appointed the Music Director of the ITE Concert Band ever since its inception.

In 2008, ITE Concert Band participated in the Open Category for the 2nd National Band Competition (NBC) 2008
& managed to clinched the Silver Award with the total score of 79.17%
In 2009, ITE Concert Band participated in International Band Competition at Genting and they clinched the GOLD Award.
With the total score of 82% , they were named 2nd Top band for the competition.
In 2010, ITE Concert Band participated in 3rd Singapore MUSE Festival in April and managed to clinch the Silver award.
In July, ITE Concert Band participated in the Open Category for the 3rd National Band Competition (NBC) 2010 and managed to clinched the Gold with Honours award with the total score of 85.33%.
ITE Concert Band hope to strives ourselves for the local music band scene
or the international band scene in the near future.
The Music Director
Mr Eric James Watson
Born in the UK & received musical training at Trinity College of Music in London,
his principal studies being piano, violin, composition and conducting, for which he was awarded the Ricordi prize.
After graduating, he established a career as a composer and musical director.
Now domiciled in Singapore he has twice been the composer for the Singapore National Day Parade.
In 2006 he won the first prize for Chinese Orchestral Composition.
